Obituary: B.J. Cain Dies At Oblong—- B.J. Cain 79, died at his home north of Oblong this morning at 5:00 o’clock after a lingering illness. Surviving are his wife and one son, L.P. Cain of Jewett, Ill. Three step children, W.E. Berg of Yuma, Ariz. Helen Berg, of Newburg, Mo and Mrs. A.P. Draper of Lebanon, Mo and one brother, A.J. Cain of Oblong. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3pm at the First Christian church in Oblong, with Rev. W.H. Elliott in charge. Burial will be in the Wilkins cemetery. The body will remain at the Geff Chapel where friends may call until time of service.

Obituary – Oblong Oracle, Apr 12, 1919 – Olive Jane Stifle was born at Dogwood, ILL, April 2, 1866 and departed this life March 31, 1919. She was married to B.J. Cain January 13, 1887. To them were born two children, Lewis P. and Bessie Bells. Bessie has gone before to welcome her mother in the new home. Lewis P. having received his discharge from the U.S. Army was permitted to spend the last two weeks caring for his mother. She united with the Christian church at Kibbie, ILL in 1884 and held her membership at the time of her death with the Christian church of Lebanon, Missouri. She and her husband moved west when they were married, where they lived until a year ago when they moved back to this neighborhood. She was ill when they returned to their old home. Her friends hoped the change would restore her health, but she continued to fail, but born her great suffering with the patience of a true Christian. She leaves to mourn their loss, besides her husband and son, two sisters, Nellie and Millie, 8 brothers —- Lewis of California, James of Texas and Peter.

She died on September 3, 1955 in Crawford Co, ILL. He remarried on March 11, 1958 to Fanchion Lefever Boyd. She was born on 12 Oct 1902. She died on 28 Aug 1992 in Oblong, Illinois.

Obituary: Lewis P. Cain, Oblong, dies; rite Friday Lewis Palmer Cain, 80, 310 N. Garfield Street, Oblong, died at 1:45am today at Crawford Memorial Hospital. He was a retired school teacher, born in Nebraska, the son of the late Benjamin and Jane Stifle Cain. He was a veteran of WWI and was a Sunday School class instructor for many years at the First Christian Church, Oblong, where he was a member. Mr. Cain was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Dance Cain, in 1955. He is survived by his wife, Fanchion LeFever Boyd Cain, whom he married March 11, 1958. Also surviving are cousins and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 2pm Friday at Pulliam Funeral Home, Oblong, with Rev. Norman Downs officiating, followed by burial in Mound Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-9pm Thursday.
